Although my primary field of expertise is lighting I also have, as do most people who have worked in the industry for many years, a great deal of experience relating to all technical aspects of event production. From my time working at AVT where I had project management roles for events as well as lighting design, and from from my time freelancing for various AV companies I have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in the specification, installation and operation of just about every type of equipment used in the live events industries from sets and staging to sound systems, display systems, pyros and projection. Recently I have been increasingly involved in the installation and operation of high definition projection systems using the latest range of Christie HD projectors to create ultra widescreen and supersize screen projections for events such as the world premier of James Cameron's AVATAR, British Film Institutes screenings in Trafalgar Square, Secret Cinema events and many projection mapping projects utilizing up to 30 HD projectors.

AC/DC Iron Man II launch projection mapping at Rochester Castle for QED Productions using 3 Christie HD 18K projectors

Projection Mapping on Somerset House with 18 Christie HD 20K projetors for a press event to celebrate Team GB at the winter Olympics in Vancouver 2010

Interactive projection mapping at Covent Garden for the Nokia Ovi maps launch

Belfast Titanic Festaval, 24 Christie HD18K projectors were mapped onto three sides of the Titanic Center

Another area in which I have recently been involved is in the creation of miniature mechanical devices, miniature led lighting systems and sound recording for arts projects. I have been working closely with the artist Jane Pitt on two of her recent projects, Flutterances and Wunderkammer in providing technical advice, motorised systems, lighting, sound recording and audio and video editing.

As far as I can tell the main requirement for success in live event production is planing, creativity, the ability to adapt to the situation, three skills I have actively tried to develop over the last twenty years, and look forward to further developing in the future
